thinkjimcreative > About
I’m Jim Parrillo, and I’m a freelance interactive and motion designer. thinkjimcreative.com is the name I use for my freelance work. I live in Rochester, New York my two children. I have been building websites since 1997, and in 2014 began attending Rochester Institute of Technology to pursue a Masters Degree in Visual Communication Design .
I believe that design should be used not just to solve a problem at hand, but to provide a connection between people outside of the interface.
I develop standards based websites using CSS3 and HTML5 whenever possible. I mostly develop on a Mac running
OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) OS X Yosemite and I also have a virtual installation of Windows XP running on my Mac via VMWare Fusion which I use for testing for browser compatibility issues. I also recently picked up have a lil’ red netbook from System 76 running Ubuntu 10 (Lucid Linux) which is nice for offsite coffee shop coding.
Some of the services that I offer include:
- Website Architecture Planning
- UI / UX & IxD Services
- Custom WordPress Theme Development
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Social Media Site Integration (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
- Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
- Google Adwords Management
Prior to working as a freelance web designer, I was a Project Manager in the wireless communication industry building cell towers. For over 10 years I worked in various Project Management consulting positions for companies like Sprint and AT&T Wireless. This corporate experience has given me a great perspective on fast paced work environments where speed and accuracy are life-or-death issues.
I now work mostly with a small team of designers and developers to develop websites, provide marketing direction and technical decision support including: blogs, advertising, search engine optimization (SEO) and social media. Please feel free to contact me for information, advice or a quote. You will be surprised at the quality of the product I can deliver.
